Ethnobotany and New Crop Development course at the Hawassa University

Zbyněk Polesný, the TRIBE team leader, taught the course on Ethnobotany and New Crop Development, held at the Wondo Genet College of Forestry and Natural Resources of the Hawassa University from 5th to 9th November, 2018. This course has been organized in frame of the Czech Development Agency project Enhancement of the education and scientific research in the field of biotechnologies, agricultural production and extension at Hawassa University, Ethiopia coordinated by Bohdan Lojka, the head of the Department of Crop Sciences and Agroforestry.

The course has been prepared in close cooperation with Lukáš Pawera and consisted of theoretical and practical lectures on concepts and methods of ethnobotany, neglected and underutilized crops, crop domestication, preparation of herbarium reference collection and plant taxonomic identification, and ethnobotanical project proposal preparation.

We are thankful to all participants as well as all colleagues at Wondo Genet College who helped with course organization for great cooperation.
