What will be your responsibilities?
- Coordinating and organising laboratory or workshop infrastructures including the transformation of requests from end-users into drawings and/or designs for experiments.
- Drafting technical reports in an area related to the field of the competition.
- Drafting technical documents for the maintenance of laboratory and of technical instrumentation.
- Drafting technical specifications for purchase of laboratory material and in comparing different test equipment in order to select the most suitable ones.
- Supervising the follow-up activities carried out by laboratory contractors in order to verify their compliance with purchase orders/specifications.
- Supervising the adherence of the laboratory set up according to the applicable safety and security rules
Where will you be employed?
Officials recruited as laboratory technicians and laboratory support workers will be employed in various sites of the Joint Research Centre, located in several Member States – Geel (Belgium), Ispra (Italy), Karlsruhe (Germany) or Petten (The Netherlands).
What are the criteria?
— A level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma in an area related to the duties (see above) followed by at least 3 years’ professional experience relevant to those same duties,
or
— Secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education, followed by at least 6 years’ professional experience relevant to the duties (see above)
What is the required qualification?
- Professional experience in design, installation, organisation, operation and maintenance of laboratories and related technical installations.
- Professional hands on experience in implementing the execution of chemical and/or biology and/or mechanical and/or material-science and/or electrical/electronics experiments.
- Professional experience in developing and realising standard operating procedures in a laboratory setting.
- Professional experience in drafting reports and/or compiling technical results of performed experiments related to the field of the competition.
- Professional experience in performing equipment calibration in accordance with a pre-defined procedure and maintenance plan.
- Professional experience in drafting technical specifications for the selection and purchase of laboratory material and test equipment.
- Professional experience in designing and realising elements needed to create/modify/improve experimental laboratory equipment and infrastructure.
- Professional experience in verifying the adherence of the infrastructure/laboratory installations according to the applicable safety and security rules and quality assurance standards
