Mustapha Yakubu Madaki, originally from Nigeria, earned his Ph.D. in Development Economics from the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU) in 2023. His doctoral research focused on how farming households in Nigeria adapt to climate change and its impact on food security.
Throughout his academic journey, Mustapha has actively contributed to global discussions on climate resilience. He has published extensively in top-tier peer-reviewed journals, including Climate Policy, where he published on agricultural insurance as a climate adaptation strategy and the adaptation mechanisms of agro-pastoralists. His work on the effects of agronomic climate adaptation on household food security was featured in the Climate Risk Management journal, while his research on farmers’ climate change knowledge and perception in Nigeria was published in the Climate Journal.
Beyond climate adaptation, his research interests span sustainable agricultural practices, pesticide handling behaviour, and rural development. Mustapha has presented his findings at international conferences, engaging with researchers and development practitioners to bridge the gap between research and real-world impact. His work is driven by a commitment to fostering resilient agricultural systems that support farming communities in the face of climate challenges.
Mustapha was the Quality Manager at Pepper Décor Glass Image Technology Company, Prague, Czech Republic, from 2022 to 2023, and Data Manager and IT Officer at The Lutheran World Federation Services (LWF) Prague, Czech Republic, in 2024. He has now joined as a Researcher at the Department of Economics and Development, Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences CZU since January 2025.
