I had the chance to be chosen by the ADAB agricultural agency to do an internship in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. As the local dealing with time has very special characteristics, changing activities at the last minute was a common difficulty. Besides all the obstacles caused by a different culture, I had a great experience working not only in plant area, as for my bachelors thesis, but also had a chance to get to animal sanitary defense laboratories of virology, parasitology, bacteriology, microbiology and learn to differenciate fruit flies in entomological laboratory. As a part of plant sanitary defense program, I visited several national companies in the state of Bahia for fruit production, fruit deseases defense and exportation. This experience was clearly the best way to use and see in practice all that we have learnd in theory and enjoy the real-lofe tropics!
