Our colleague and friend Tomáš Kudera is definitely not a newcomer to the faculty. He completed his PhD in Tropical Agrobiology and Bioresource Management at FTA in March 2024 under the supervision of Prof. Kokoška at the Laboratory of Ethnobotany and Ethnopharmacology, following earlier studies in Tropical Crop Management and Ecology (MSc.) and Agriculture in Tropics and Subtropics (BSc.). During his doctoral studies, he focused on ethnobotany, phytochemistry, ethnopharmacology, and the biological activities of underutilized and medicinal tropical plants, with particular attention to their selective antimicrobial and antiproliferative effects on human intestinal bacteria and cells in vitro. Throughout his academic career, Tomáš has been actively involved in international research and fieldwork in several tropical regions, including Southeast Asia, Polynesia, and East Africa. His research activities have resulted in numerous scientific publications, participation in international conferences, and close collaboration with partner institutions abroad. In his latest role, he gained valuable experience and interdisciplinary expertise as a junior researcher through his work at the DRIFT-FOOD research centre at the Faculty of Agrobiology, Food and Natural Resources.
Within TRIBE, Tomáš aims to further develop research linking ethnobotany, plant ecology, phytochemistry, phytopharmacology, and plant-derived foods and medicines. In addition to his research activities, he will actively contribute to the further development of the FTA Herbarium, support the preparation and submission of international research project proposals, and help to strengthen collaboration between individual research teams within the Department of Crop Science and Agroforestry.
Congratulations on behalf of the whole team!
