The Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague has updated the names of two of its departments. The main reason for this change is to ensure that the department titles more accurately reflect their current academic focus, research activities and teaching, which have naturally evolved over time.
The departments are now officially named:
- Department of Wildlife and Animal Sciences (formerly: Department of Animal Science and Food Processing)
"The new names highlight a shift towards broader, interdisciplinary approaches addressing key global challenges such as biodiversity conservation, sustainable animal production, food security, modern biotechnologies and responsible use of natural resources," explained by the Head of the Department, Barbora Černá Bolfíková, Ph.D.
- Department of Food and BioResource Technology (formerly: Department of Sustainable Technologies)
"The change in the name of the department better reflects our current professional focus and its long-term development. The new name Department of Food and BioResource Technology clearly communicates the connection between food science and food technologies, bioresource technologies and the sustainable use of natural resources in the global south countries," explains the Head of the Department, Prof. Jan Banout.
"The new names of the departments better describe what the faculty is actually doing today. They reflect the shift towards an interdisciplinary approach and topics that respond to global challenges. At the same time, they are more comprehensible for Czech and foreign students and our international partners", added Assoc. Ing. Hynek Roubík, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences, ČZU in Prague.
