While eco-feminist perspectives have long addressed the gendered dimensions of environmental change, gender considerations only gained full recognition in global climate action agendas in the mid-2010s. Yet, many mitigation and adaptation programs still overlook gender implications.

In this lecture, Dr. Maxime Forest (Sciences Po Paris, Yellow Window) will explore findings from a major study commissioned by the French Development Agency, mapping how key international development stakeholders frame the intersection of gender and climate. Through the lens of water commons and the circular economy, Dr. Forest will highlight the deep interconnections between gender inequalities and climate action. The session will also include a participatory segment, encouraging students to integrate gender perspectives into their own climate research.
