ICARD Students Gain Firsthand Experience in Tropical Fruit Trade During Visit to Titbit

As part of the International Trade and Agricultural Development course led by Jiří Hejkrllík, students from the English-taught bachelor's program ICARD (International Cooperation in Agricultural and Rural Development) visited Titbit, a leading Czech importer of tropical fruits.

The goal of the visit was to bridge academic knowledge with real-world applications, giving students valuable insights into the practical aspects of international trade. They learned how Titbit builds and maintains partnerships with suppliers across continents, navigates complex certification processes, and manages the financial aspects of cross-border trade. Discussions also focused on logistics for perishable goods, risk management strategies, and maintaining high quality standards in international supply chains.

The visit also highlighted key post-importation processes, including quality control, sorting, and storage of fresh fruits. Students discovered how Titbit addresses common quality issues in tropical produce and reduces waste through efficient inventory and waste management systems.

This experience is a regular and integral part of the ICARD curriculum, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and operational decisions involved in importing perishable agricultural products.
