Summer school in Ukraine - Call for participants

Summer school is organised within the framework of the project Support of young university capacity in education and research and science activities in Ukrainesupported by the Czech Republic Development Cooperation.

Date: 22th – 31th August, 2019

Location: Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University

Participants: in total 17 - young researchers, PhD students and MSc students from Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University, Sumy National Agrarian University, Sumy State University, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (Czech Republic). Participants will work at mixed teams.

Aims of the Summer School:

  • to enhance cultural exchange between Ukraine and the Czech Republic;
  • to improve research competencies of students, including writing scientific paper and presenting scientific results;
  • to strengthen skills in field survey, a specific emphasis will be dedicated to participatory methods.

The concept of the summer school is structured as an intensive course focused on current problematic of waste management in Ukraine. The programme of the summer school consists of two parts: (i) theoretical lectures providing a solid background to (ii) a practical part – primary data collection (field survey), data processing and reporting.

The summer school work plan is focused on a research of the aforementioned topic through field visits to the waste management locations, collection of data and their analysis within the mixed international groups under the support of teachers. The main focus of the research will be on optimization of organic waste management, municipal solid waste management, as well as connection with the renewable energy potential in the region.

Working language: English – the participant must have a communicative level of English skills. As a result of the event, the participants will receive the certificates of participation in the international summer school.

Handout materials, coffee breaks and lunches are provided. For participants residing out of Bila Tserkva accommodation is provided.
