Seminar: Diseases of Captive-Bred Amphibians and Reptiles
You are invited to a scientific seminar focused on health issues affecting amphibians and reptiles kept in captivity – in private collections, zoos, research colonies, and farming systems. The seminar will explore how inadequate husbandry, infectious pathogens and global trade can influence the health of captive populations and, ultimately, wild species.
You will learn about:
- the most common diseases in captive reptiles and amphibians,
- how viruses, bacteria and parasites spread in captive settings,
- why experimental frog colonies are essential for research,
- how global trade contributes to emerging wildlife diseases,
- and what this means for biodiversity and conservation.
20 November 2025, 14:00–15:30, Room 116 (FTZ) Speaker: Vojtěch Baláž, University of Veterinary Sciences Brno Online access available (QR code on the poster)
The seminar is open to all FTZ students interested in animal health, ecology, conservation and current challenges linked to keeping exotic species.
We look forward to seeing you there!
