The World Agroforestry Campus in Nairobi, Kenya, hosted a three-day conference from March 10–12, 2025, officially launching the AfroGrow project. This four-year EU-funded initiative under Horizon Europe aims to develop sustainable agroforestry practices across Africa, enhancing climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and socio-economic development.
AfroGrow brings together 25 partner organizations from Europe and Africa, working within six Living Labs in Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Kenya, Zambia, and Botswana to test and implement innovative agroforestry solutions.
The Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU) is actively involved in the project through:
- Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences (FTZ) as the lead partner (Prof. Ing. Bohdan Lojka, Ph.D., Ing. Radim Kotrba, Ph.D., Ing. Marie Kalousová)
- Faculty of Environmental Sciences (Mgr. Tomáš Jůnek, Ph.D.)
- Faculty of Agrobiology, Food and Natural Resources (Markus Dettenhofer, Ph.D.)
AfroGrow bridges science, innovation, and local expertise, fostering collaboration between academia, NGOs, the private sector, and local communities.
