How does human activity influence the movement and behavior of wild mammals? Join us for a seminar led by Astrid Olejarz from the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Sciences, CZU, where we will explore:
- The impact of human recreational activities during the COVID-19 pandemic on GPS-collared wild boar (Sus scrofa) movement and sleep behavior in suburban forests of the Czech Republic.
- The spatial behavioral plasticity of wild boar in response to drive hunts in the Czech Republic and Sweden.
- The effect of supplementary feeding on the home range size of terrestrial mammals, based on existing literature.
When: February 27, 2025, 14:00–15:30 Where: Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences, Room 116 Online: Please see the invitation below with the QR code.
The findings suggest that wildlife responses to human pressure depend on the type of behavior, animal experience, and species. More comprehensive research and transparent policies in wildlife management are crucial for understanding these anthropogenic effects.
