During the last week of September 2023, Wednesday 27 th to Friday 29 th , Harokopio University and the Hellenic Mediterranean University are organising in Athens, the Rethink Food Resources, Loses, and Waste Conference, under the short title RETASTE 2023.
The central aim of the RETASTE Conference is to bring together researchers from all aspects of the food supply value and afterlife chain, meaning from farm to fork and beyond, to discuss sustainability and circularity.
This is the 3 rd RETASTE Conference, after a distance-only event in 2021 and a hybrid event in 2022, and we hope that the event of 2023 will be the best yet. RETASTE2023 is also going to be a hybrid event, allowing all participants, whether they travel to Athens or participate from abroad, to be involved in the same sessions and be fully interactive in real-time.
At the moment, three scientific journals, Sustainability Switzerland (open access), Waste and Biomass Valorization, and Scientia Horticulturae will host Special Issues directly related with agriculture and natural resources use optimisation, in an effort to cover all aspects of the Conference.
Furthermore, as member of the Scientific Committee I have undertaken the task to co-organise three Sessions:
- WRU: Alternative water resources and wastewater reuse in agriculture (together with HMU Professor and chair of RETASTE Dr. T. Manios)
- UFP: Urban food production, from green roofs to micro-greens and NBS (together with HMU Professor Dr. P. Nektarios)
- HRE: Reducing the environmental footprint of agriculture
Abstract submission has been open since January 1 st to 31 st of May 2023, with a rolling evaluation in monthly intervals, taking into consideration that places offered for oral presentations will be limited. You can find the abstract submission guidelines here.
