What is a Science Slam?
A Science Slam is a popular format that blends research, storytelling and creativity. Your task is to present your project in a way that captivates even those who are not familiar with your field.
This is not a scientific seminar. What matters is the ability to simplify complex topics, entertain the audience and spark curiosity.
Why join?
- gain valuable experience in science communication
- practise presenting your work outside of a laboratory or academic setting
- meet fellow students and learn about research happening across FTZ
- and most importantly – win an attractive scholarship of up to CZK 10,000
What can you win?
- a diploma and recognition from your peers and teachers
- CZK 6,000 for the overall FTZ winner
- CZK 4,000 for the best participant from the Department of Animal Science and Food Processing
(If the overall winner is from this department, they may receive the full amount of CZK 10,000.)

- the option to use props or creative demonstration tools
- a maximum of one PowerPoint slide (animations allowed, but no slide control during the talk)
- a friendly and supportive atmosphere
- evaluation by a panel of experts from the Department and invited guests
- guidance from teachers and the possibility of a short consultation while preparing your talk
Who organizes the event?
The Science Slam is organized by the Department of Animal Science and Food Processing, in cooperation with the FTZ management. The goal is to support young researchers, strengthen their presentation skills and promote open communication about science.
