In July 2024, seven students from our faculty participated in the Blended Intensive Program (BIP) at Ondokuz Mayis University (OMU) in Samsun, Turkey. BIP connects three or more higher education institutions from different Erasmus+ programme countries for short-term exchanges.
The program in Turkey focused on sustainable agriculture. During the first three days, students attended lectures delivered by OMU professors on topics such as the impacts of climate change on agriculture, global warming, renewable energy, biotechnology, smart agricultural applications, biodiversity, and many other aspects of sustainable agriculture. Our students engaged in discussions and shared experiences with participants from Poland, Romania, and Portugal, enriching the overall experience.
Beyond the academic part, students explored the Samsun region. They visited the historic city center, local markets, and the famous Şahinkaya Canyon, where they enjoyed a boat tour through Turkey’s second-largest canyon. The Erasmus Student Network at OMU also organized activities, including tasting local cuisine and other cultural experiences.
This trip was both an educational and cultural opportunity, broadening the horizons of all participants. It strengthened the collaboration between CZU and international universities, opening new opportunities for future students and academic staff.
Thanks to our students, Adam Vacek and Zuzana Procházková, for sharing their experiences and photos with us!
