Bojana Petrovic – Postdoctoral Researcher (BioResources & Technology)

Last year, the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague successfully launched a call for four two-year postdoctoral positions aimed at strengthening its internationally recognized research and addressing key challenges in tropical and subtropical regions. The positions were opened across four core departments and were all filled by highly qualified researchers, who will contribute to further advancing the faculty’s scientific excellence and international collaboration.

In the coming weeks, we will gradually introduce all four new researchers. We begin with Bojana Petrovic from the BioResources & Technology team.

Her research focuses on sustainable and precision agriculture, urban forestry, soil science, and remote sensing applications. She combines environmental modelling with advanced spatial and AI-based methods to better understand agricultural and ecological systems.

She completed her Ph.D. in Horticulture at Mendel University in Brno. Prior to joining FTZ, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Polytechnic University of Marche in Italy and at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE). Throughout her academic career, she has focused on integrating satellite data, climate information, and field measurements to gain comprehensive insights into landscapes and ecosystems.

At FTZ, she contributes to integrating remote sensing and AI tools into research activities, helping to expand the team’s scientific portfolio and develop innovative approaches for environmental monitoring and sustainable land management. Her research interests include urban forests, agricultural landscapes, forestry systems, and the impacts of climate change on vegetation dynamics.

She was attracted to the BioResources & Technology team by its interdisciplinary and forward-looking approach, combining applied research, innovative technologies, and international collaboration.

In addition to her research, she is actively involved in international collaboration as a member of the core coordination team of the PANGEOS COST Action, focusing on remote sensing and environmental monitoring.
