This year's Conference of the Czech Evaluation Society 2022, which was co-organized by the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague on 15-16 June, was held in the spirit of discussions on benefits of evaluation and policy-making based on evidence and date for a better future for our planet. In a discussion with the authors of the publication Transformational Change for people and the Planet: Evaluating Environment and Development, co-authored with Juha Uitto, Director of the Independent Evaluation Office, the questions of how to achieve a sustainable future, how to achieve transformational change and how to apply these questions by using evaluations were addressed. According to Uitto, evaluation and feedback assessment must be an active tool in making the necessary changes. A holistic perspective must be taken into account - the environment is the main focus, but all sectors are equal because everything we create affects it.
The conference also included the announcement of the Evaluation Competition for university students, which was won by a team from Palacký University in Olomouc led by Zuzana Fišerová. The students were tasked to develop an evaluation proposal/proposal based on a given development intervention in Kenya. The proposals were evaluated by a panel of three professional evaluators who provided feedback. The winners received a certificate from CES as well as the opportunity to advance to the international round and compete against world-class teams. The team from FTZ/ČZU, led by Petra Chaloupková came 2dn in this year´s competition.
