As part of the Erasmus+ KA171 program, the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences had the honor of hosting Dr. Honest Machekano from the University of Pretoria. During his visit, Dr. Machekano delivered lectures within the MSc Crop Production course, focusing on:
- Key pests of tropical crops,
- Approaches to their effective management with an emphasis on Integrated Pest Management (IPM),
- An overview of his research in Southern Africa.
The students appreciated his engaging approach and practical examples, which enriched the learning experience and seamlessly aligned with other lectures in the module.
Dr. Machekano also presented his research to experts at the Crop Research Institute, facilitated by Prof. Václav Stejskal. The visit included a tour of the institute’s laboratories, fostering new scientific connections and opportunities for future collaboration.
We thank Dr. Machekano for his inspiring lectures, sharing valuable insights, and establishing new academic partnerships.
