The Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU Prague) continues to implement development projects in Moldova - this year by the project "Modernisation of Agricultural Education in Moldova in the Context of Climate Change", contributing to the modernisation of agricultural education in the Republic of Moldova while strengthening the long-standing partnership between both countries.
The project (No. 26-PKVV-013), led by Assoc. prof. Tatiana Alexiou Ivanova, Ph.D., prof.h.c. is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. It aims to strengthen higher agricultural education by promoting climate change adaptation, digital technologies, and precision agriculture.
Over the past months, a series of project activities have been carried out at the Faculty of Agricultural, Forestry and Environmental Sciences of the Technical University of Moldova (UTM). These included consultations on the development of the new Smart Agriculture study programme, support for its accreditation process at the Moldovan Ministry of Education and Research, preparations for training activities focused on digital technologies and precision agriculture, as well as co-organization of the university's Open Day.
An important part of the project is the development of modern teaching and research infrastructure. During a series of working meetings, representatives of the partner institutions assessed the experimental fields designated for the establishment of climate-resilient subtropical crop plantations and protective forest belts. They also discussed the selection of suitable crop species, certified planting material suppliers, and the next implementation steps.
The initiative builds on over two decades of cooperation between CZU Prague and the Technical University of Moldova. Previous joint projects contributed to the establishment of experimental orchards and vineyards, creating a strong foundation for the current activities. Today, this long-term partnership continues to deliver tangible benefits for education, research, and sustainable agricultural development.
The project's impact was further recognised by the gold medal at the International Exhibition of Innovation and Innovative Entrepreneurship 2026 in Chi?inău, an international event promoting research, innovation, and technology transfer.
