Visit from Kasetsart University, Thailand

Last week, the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from Kasetsart University, Thailand. The visit offered an opportunity to exchange research ideas, strengthen institutional ties, and explore new areas of academic cooperation in tropical agriculture, forestry, and environmental sciences.

The delegation included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aor Pranchai from the Special Research Unit for Mangrove Silviculture (Faculty of Forestry), Asst. Prof. Dr. Naruemol Kaewjampa, Associate Dean for International Affairs and Educational Innovation (Department of Conservation, Faculty of Forestry), Asst. Prof. Suchada Karuna (Department of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture at Kamphaeng Saen), and Dr. Michael Jenke from the Special Research Unit for Innovative Silviculture of Tropical Hardwoods (Faculty of Forestry).

During their stay, the guests became acquainted with the work of our research groups, including the Behavioral Studies in Agri-Food Sector, Tropical Biodiversity Research Group, Tropical Farming Systems & Ecological Economics, Termite Research Team, and Consumer Behaviour and Capacity Building.

As part of the program, Dr. Michael Jenke delivered a guest lecture on “Timber Quality in Agroforestry Systems,” which was highly appreciated by both students and faculty. The visit also included discussions on the possibility of organizing a joint summer school in Thailand, focusing on teak plantations and sustainable agroforestry management. The delegation visited several of our laboratories (molecular genetics, soil science, and termite research) as well as the greenhouses of the FTA Botanical Garden. They also met with the representatives of the International Relations Office.

We are pleased to see growing international engagement and look forward to further cooperation between the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague and Kasetsart University.
