Project Day for Primary Schools in Prague 6

The Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences, CZU Prague, joins the Project Day for Primary Schools for the first time

Universities based in Prague 6 hosted the 3rd annual Project Day, an initiative aimed at introducing primary school pupils to the world of university study and showing them that science and education can be engaging, accessible, and relevant.

This year, alongside traditionally participating faculties of CTU, the programme was joined for the first time by the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Charles University, and the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague.

In total, 430 primary school pupils visited university laboratories and specialised facilities, gaining insight into a wide range of academic disciplines and study opportunities.

The Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences (FTZ), CZU Prague, participated in the project for the first time, offering a programme that included a visit to the FTZ Botanical Garden, the Herbarium, and a thematic presentation. The presentation was delivered by Ing. Jan Staš, Ph.D., Project Manager of the BioResources & Technology research team, who introduced pupils to study opportunities at FTZ and explained how international cooperation within development projects works and what real-world impact these projects have. The FTZ Herbarium was presented by Dr. Tomáš Kudera, a postdoctoral researcher from the TRIBE Lab team, who highlighted the importance of herbarium collections for biodiversity research, nature conservation, and climate change studies.

We would like to thank Prague 6 Municipality for the opportunity to be part of educational initiative.
