ICARD Students Complete Personal Security and Risk Management Training

As part of their second year, students of the International Cooperation in Agriculture and Rural Development (ICARD) study programme complete the Personal Security and Risk Management course, which prepares them to handle risky situations and to stay safe while working in environments with different cultural contexts.

At the end of the summer term, students take part in the Safety and Security Quick Reaction Stress Training provided by the RAVEN Team. The main purpose of this training is to prepare participants to prevent and manage situations they may encounter while working in developing countries – whether as development or humanitarian workers in conflict and post-conflict areas, or when collecting data in diverse cultural contexts.

Participants undergo a series of theoretical lectures and practical simulations that teach them how to react appropriately in specific situations, operate effectively in teams, and survive in demanding environments with limited access to basic human necessities.

The skills they acquire will benefit them both in their personal lives and future professional careers.
