PROJECT AIMS
The aim is to evaluate the benefits and constraints of using agroforestry systems (AFS) in Czechia with a focus on the socio-economic, legal, and environmental context. The project will evaluate the planting of trees on arable land in areas affected by soil erosion and drought, and animal husbandry combined with tree components. Based on the detailed literary review, socio-ethnological surveys, production, and economic data gathered from farmers, the AFS benefits on the agricultural land will be fully evaluated. Furthermore, legislative constraints and opportunities for tree growing on agricultural land will be analysed. The final outputs will be the scientific publications and the documents (methodologies) for the application and implementation of the agroforestry system in Czechia.

PROJECT OUTPUTS
The project had five main outputs:
Summary research report of the project Agroforestry – the potential for regional development and sustainable rural landscape (output TL01000298-V003). The aim of the research report was to define, classify, characterize, and estimate the extension agroforestry systems (ALS) in the Czech Republic and to identify the benefits, possibilities, and barriers of agroforestry in the Czech Republic with a primary focus on historical, environmental, ethnological, sociological, and economic context. Furthermore, the application of ALS was evaluated on the basis of landscape typology, legislative barriers and opportunities for possible support of tree cultivation on agricultural land.
