Aim of the Project:

Main aim of the project is to contribute to the agricultural and rural development of Mongolian countryside through the establishment of the system of electronic evidence of livestock. Small-holder livestock producers will consequently benefit from improved evidence of animals and traceability of their farm products, which will bring more focused and systematic governmental veterinary and advisory support, improved possibilities of genetic improvements and increase their chances for export of their products.

Outputs of the Project:

  • Design of system of electronic evidence of animals based on the system of individual barcodes for each animal, reading electronic devices and data communication to the main server.
  • Distribution of 100 000 animal ear-tags with barcodes in the Central region of Mongolia.
  • Establishment and equipment of a specialized animal evidence unit under the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia.
  • Training of governmental and local staff in animal evidence techniques.
  • Promotion of animal evidence among rural small-holders and public.
