What can we learn from agroforestry practices around the world? Where are the limits of current approaches, and which principles can be applied in temperate regions? These questions will be at the heart of a unique international meeting taking place on 29 September 2026 at the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague.
For the first time in the Czech Republic, four leading figures in global agroforestry, including the presidents of the European Agroforestry Federation (EURAF) and the International Union for Agroforestry (IUAF), will come together to share their extensive experience from research and practice.
The meeting will bring together experts who have played an important role in the development of European and global agroforestry structures and will offer a unique opportunity to hear directly from them about their long-term experience in the field.
What works around the world – and what can we learn from it?
Agroforestry combines agricultural production with trees and other elements of the landscape and offers different approaches to building more resilient and sustainable agricultural systems. However, its forms and outcomes can vary significantly depending on local environmental, climatic and socio-economic conditions.
The Prague meeting will therefore focus on international experience and its relevance to temperate regions. Participants will gain first-hand insights into what has worked in different parts of the world, where the limits of current approaches lie, and which principles and experiences could be applied in European conditions.
The discussion will also explore the role of agroforestry in the context of climate change and its place among other approaches to land management.
Expert talks, panel discussion and networking
The programme will feature talks by leading international experts, contributions from representatives of ministries, a panel discussion and opportunities for informal networking.
Participants will have the opportunity not only to gain new insights into agroforestry, but also to exchange experiences with experts and other professionals working in the field.

The meeting is aimed primarily at professionals, representatives of professional and non-governmental organisations, public administration, political representatives and academia. Anyone interested in agroforestry is welcome to attend. You do not need to have a company registration number or be a farmer to participate.
