Over the past few years, the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences (FTZ) at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague has been developing strong scientific cooperation with the Philippines, particularly in the fields of animal science, animal physiology and behaviour, and wildlife conservation. The Animal Physiology and Behaviour research team has played an important role in building these academic and research links.
To celebrate and further strengthen this successful cooperation, the first PH-CZ STARR (STrengthening Academic and Research Relations) scientific meeting will take place on September 4, 2026, at the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences.
The meeting will provide an opportunity to share the experiences of Filipino scholars studying and working in the Czech Republic and Czech students conducting research in the Philippines. It will also create space for networking and exploring new opportunities for academic and research cooperation between the two countries.
A key part of the programme will be a roundtable discussion on future PH-CZ cooperation, bringing together representatives of academia, diplomacy and science, including CZU Prague Rector Prof. Ing. Michal Lošťák, Ph.D., H.E. Eduardo Martin R. Menez, Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines to the Czech Republic, and Jayeel S. Cornelio, Ph.D., Director of the Philippine Department of Science and Technology.
The programme will also feature a photo exhibition highlighting research activities and examples of cooperation between Czech and Filipino institutions.
The event is organised by the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines to the Czech Republic.
