The Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences (FTZ), Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU Prague) welcomed a delegation from Moldova visiting the Czech Republic as part of the UNDP Moldova – Resilient Communities through Women Empowerment project. The study visit brought together representatives of the Moldovan organisations Women for Resilient Agriculture (FAR) and Federa?iei Na?ionale a Fermierilor din Moldova (FNFM), both active in the fields of agriculture and rural development.
The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Petra Chaloupková, Vice-Dean for International Relations, who introduced the faculty’s international activities and its experience in implementing international development projects. Dr. Kseniia Paramonova from the Department of Food Science and Biotechnology also presented examples of research activities and cooperation with partners in the fields of agriculture and food systems.
The meeting focused on the role of universities in connecting research, education, and agricultural practice. Participants learned about FTZ’s experience in collaborating with farmers, professional organisations, public institutions, and international partners. The discussion also addressed climate-resilient agriculture, the circular bioeconomy, sustainable farming practices, and rural development. Another important topic was the role of women in developing sustainable and resilient agriculture and opportunities for strengthening their professional cooperation.
Attention was also given to the education of future professionals, lifelong learning for farmers, and ways of transferring research results and innovations into agricultural practice. FTZ also presented its international activities in rural development, including projects implemented in Moldova and other partner countries.
