Erasmus+ Traineeship in Morocco Strengthens Research Collaboration on Agricultural Innovation and Sustainability

From 12 to 19 May 2026, PhD candidate Ms. Ek Sreykhouch from the Cooperative Research Group, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU), participated in an Erasmus+ traineeship at Institut Agronomique et Vétérinaire Hassan II (IAV), Morocco. The mobility aimed to strengthen academic cooperation and facilitate knowledge exchange on agricultural innovation, sustainable farming systems, and rural development.

The programme included lectures and seminars on the adoption and diffusion of innovations, behavioural economics, and smart agriculture, with particular attention to water management in dryland environments. Participants also visited greenhouse facilities and several laboratories at IAV and the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), where they gained insights into crop improvement, speed breeding, genebank conservation, and climate-resilient agriculture.

The traineeship provided valuable exposure to research and innovation addressing the challenges of water scarcity, food security, and sustainable agricultural development in arid and semi-arid regions. It also created opportunities for academic exchange among doctoral students, contributing to future research collaboration and interdisciplinary learning.
