For successful admission to a Bachelor's degree study programme you need to graduate from a secondary school or other complete secondary education. Foreign students must submit validated diploma (so-called nostrification). Successful participants of subject competitions, secondary professional activities (SPA), competitions guaranteed by the Czech Ministry of Education (Foreign languages and Geography) and graduates of the course AP Biology and AP Environmental Science for study of ZTS programme and AP Human Geography and AP Macroeconomics for ICARD study programme of international exams Advanced Placement (AP - tests are conducted by the Center for Talented Minds www.ctm-academy.cz) with a result of 5 or 4 are entitled to be admitted without entrance examinations to the proper undergraduate programme. Students who were placed at the forefront of competitions guaranteed by the Czech Ministry of Education and participated in a nationwide round of the secondary professional activities (SPA) can receive a scholarship up to 5000 CZK in accordance with Rector’s directive 17/2012.
Applicants for the programme Agriculture in Tropics and Subtropics, who submit a certificate of graduation or a certificate from the last completed year of a secondary school with an average of up to 1.8 inclusive, will be admitted without the entrance examination.
Applications to the FTA can be submitted only electronically on http: is.czu.cz/prihlaska.
For the study of the programme International Cooperation and Rural Development (ICARD) in English, a fee of CZK 7,000 per academic year is paid. The fee has to be paid till the student’s registration and is non-refundable. In case of erroneously filled banking details, the payment is invalid.

Application must be submitted electronically and must contain all the requisites of the electronic application form including one selected study programme. You can apply to two bachelor programmes:
- Zemědělství tropů a subtropů/Agriculture in Tropics and Subtropics (ZTS) - taught in Czech
- International Cooperation in Agriculture and Rural Development (ICARD) - in English

In the case of submission of more applications, each one needs to be paid individually. Every application has its own number (and thus each payment has its own specific symbol), so it is not possible to pay with one shared payment due to administration procedure of recognising the payments to the individual applications. Applications not paired with a payment by the last day for application will be eliminated from the record. The handling fee is non-refundable at all phases of the admission process.
The date of entrance examination will be announced by electronic mail not later than 30 days before the examination. Progress of admissions will be posted on the webpage is.czu.cz/prihlaska. The invitation to examination will contain a place, a day and the time of the examination.
On the day of the examination, you will have to bring formal Identification card (or passport) and verified copy of your graduation certificate. The original itself without the verified copy is insufficient! Admission of applicants without graduation certificate will be temporary and conditional upon the certificate will be submitted, not later than the day of enrolment. In this case, the enrolment into the study can be held at a later date than the regular enrolment term. Graduates from abroad must submit a validated graduation certificate. In case the applicant is unable to attend the entry examinations in the 1st or 2nd period (period where the admission procedure is organized) due to unavoidable reasons, he/she can be examined on an alternate date. In such cases, an explanatory request for an alternate date should be delivered to the Study Administration Office FTA not later than proper date of the entrance examination of the selected period. Another option of admission procedure to the programme ICARD for foreign applicants is a videoconference (see details below). Supplemental round is organized to supplement the capacity of the programme which may be already filled out during the 1st or 2nd period of the proper date of the entrance examination or from the alternative date of entrance examination.
The Dean of the FTA decides whether a student is to be admitted or not. The decision is based on the evaluation of the tests and interviews. This decision will be announced on is.czu.cz/prihlaska (it is necessary to watch the admission procedure process), usually within seven days. Applicants can appeal the decision within 30 days after delivery of the decision. Applicants will obtain the original decision document of admission at the enrolment.
In case of successful fulfilment of the admission procedure of applicants from countries that require obtaining a visa a confirmation of accommodation will be sent to the Embassy of the Czech Republic via the data mailbox after the confirmation of payment of the fee for study in a foreign language has been sent electronically to the FTZ Study Department. The confirmation of study for the embassy and announcement of the fulfilment of the entrance examination will be sent to the applicant by post.
2 round process of admission procedure to the programme ICARD
The admission procedure to the programme ICARD is devided into two rounds. In the first round the committee selects the candidates according to their prerequisites for study - on the basis of the current focus, of the results of the completed previous studies and the experience and presumptions for the study contained in the CV. The CV in English and the certificate from the last completed year of study (or the graduation certificate with the transcript of records) has to be sent to the Academic administration office (personally or by e-mail to study_FTZ@ftz.czu.cz) in the time of registration for admission procedure.
In the first round the presumptions for the study are evaluated and it is possible to reach up to 50 points. The evaluated criteria are:
- 20 points – results from previous studies
- 30 points – experiences and presumptions for study according to CV
Selected applicants who reach 20 points will be invited electronically via the UIS system to the second round of admission procedure – the entrance examination itself.
The second round consists of skype interview for applicants outside Czech Republic or entrance examination test for applicants in the Czech Republic (the applicant has to reach the minimum 30 points out od 100).
Entry examinations for Bachelor's degree programmes are written, just the Czech language examination is an oral interview. The knowledge tested is within the grammar school range. Examining teams are comprised of experts from the proper field; the language ability is evaluated by the teachers from the Department of Languages (in the Faculty of Economics and Management).
There are two entry examinations – language and specific subject. For ICARD, the entire entrance examination including a specialized test is in English. For applicants who can not prove their knowledge of the Czech language by a graduation certificate in czech, there is also an interview in Czech language assessing prepositions to study of the programme ZTS. Applicants with a graduation certificate from Czech language don´t have to pass the oral interview.
The maximum and minimum level of points for acceptance varies according to the programme (see table 1, 1st and 2nd programme).

Applicants are accepted to study at FTA according to the number of points obtained at the entrance examination till the capacity of accepted students is filled in (see table 2). A sample test of all subjects can be examined bellow in the section Documents.

If you can not attend personally at admission procedure due to a long stay abroad, you may submit a request to the Dean of FTA for enabling participation in admissions by by written request together with justification to the Study Administration Office of FTA (personally or by electronic mail to study_FTZ@ftz.czu.cz) not later then the termination of the registration to the corresponding period of registrations. The sample of the request form can be found on the web pages of FTA, admission procedure.To this request it is necessary to enclose a copy of personal ID document with clear photographs of the applicant.
In case the request will be accepted, the applicant is composing the entrance examination in form of skype interview before the examining committee in the date set in the invitation. The applicant is responsible for a sufficient transmission quality and the used equipment. If an applicant is admitted, the admission is conditional and temporary until the all required documents are submitted, not later than the date of enrolment.
