Amendments in project applications compared to previous years
As in previous years, the FTZ Grant Competition is in two stages. Most of the rules and settings in Grant Competition 2026 are similar to Grant Competition 2025; nevertheless, there are some changes (compared to before 2025) that should contribute to equal opportunities and transparency and support young academics. These changes are summarised in the tender documentation in Section 2.1 Amendments in project applications compared to previous years and further described in the relevant sections of the tender documentation. These are the following points:
- Projects must not have the same name - each year, the project must have a unique name.
- Rules were set for academic staff with an interrupted publication history with affiliation to FTZ and for academic staff without a publication history with affiliation to FTZ.
- Support for young academics: in IGA 2026, there is the possibility to benefit from salary costs (including compulsory social and health insurance costs), but only for young academics.
Information on the interim report
As there have been problems in previous years with the submission of the IGA interim report, which is always due at the end of February, here is the relevant information:
The interim report should be sent by email to the address PhDandResearch@ftz.czu.cz It must include:
- Information on whether the team fulfils the minimum required outputs (= at least one article accepted by a journal included in WoS or at least one licensed patented result at the national or international level with acknowledgement to the IGA 2025 or IGA 2026). Please do not provide a list of articles. For this report, just one word is enough: yes or no.
- how many final theses (MSc and PhD) are defended with the IGA 2026 funds and
- examples of excellence achieved thanks to the funding of the IGA project. Provide information that is generally considered excellent in the academic environment, e.g. publications in Nature Index journals, in journals in category D 1 (1st decile), any awards from nationally or internationally recognised institutions (external, outside the CZU), above-standard positive media coverage, above-standard practical outputs of applied research, major international projects...
This information is important for reporting to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, which provides resources to the IGA.
