In July, 2017 - August, 2017 I embarked on a journey to the Bia District in the western region one of the 28 new districts created in 2004 in Ghana. It was carved out of the then Juaboso-Bia District by Legislative Instrument 1762.It covers a land area of 2,185.3 km2 and had a population of 153,925 in 2000 with a growth rate of 3.5% per annum. Agriculture is the main economic activity of the people of the district, with cocoa as the main crop.

Data collection in this region has given me general idea of living conditions in some areas of western Ghana. Some rural communities had no electricity, poor living standard and living in these areas for almost a month in collection of data gave me some traditional knowledge in surviving in areas where there are no social amenities. Data collection was made possible with the help of students mobility program organized by the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences .This experience will help me in future research’s and has developed my at large.
