My experience with data collection in Central Sulawesi

Thanks to my faculty I got the opportunity of financial support for conducting my research about home gardens in Indonesia. I am really grateful for this experience with data collection abroad because it is much better than just only sit in the class and learn theory because work in practice is totally different and you will receive new point of view of your topic and you can learn many new things. Without practice is really hard to imagine how everything works. For example how the local people think or just how the research area really looks like. I think that for the first time is really important to make a observation and have a really good knowledge about your topic. It means to read many articles and materials about methodology before. Because if you have limited time for your data collection there is no chance to do it like a freestyle. But after that during the data collection you will meet many nice people, new friends and you will get to know local culture and also language. Of course it is important not to forget to have a respect for different culture and be empathetic and sometimes to be more patient if you want to get good data. Anyway my data collections were always the best experience and it was not only about work but also about traveling and fun and i learned many things not only about how to make a research but also about life and this beautiful country like is Indonesia. Without the help and support of my university i could never realize it. Thank you.
