The mission of the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences is to educate specialists in tropical agriculture, the conservation and management of endangered species, rural development, and the sustainable use of natural and energy resources in developing countries. With its strong focus on international cooperation, the faculty represents a unique institution within the Czech Republic.
Its aim is to connect science, education, and practical application to deliver solutions that improve the quality of life of people and support the protection of nature – not only in the countries of the Global South, but also in a broader global context.
Study in a Truly Multicultural Environment
Our academic staff are recognised experts with extensive international experience, and students are encouraged to engage in research teams and field-based projects throughout their studies.
More than 500 students from over 70 countries study at FTZ. Teaching takes place in small class groups, creating a friendly atmosphere and enabling an individual approach. FTZ is a place where different cultures, experiences and perspectives naturally come together.
Students can complete part of their studies at partner universities abroad, participate in development projects in various parts of the world, or undertake internships through the Erasmus+ programme.
Modern Facilities and Hands-On Learning
FTZ is part of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, home to the most environmentally friendly campus in the Czech Republic. The Pavilion of Tropical AgriSciences, where teaching takes place, is equipped with modern laboratories.
The faculty also includes a unique Botanical Garden, a Herbarium, and a Research Facility for Common Elands and Guanaco Llamas, enabling students to gain practical experience directly at these specialised sites.
