The Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences (FTZ) of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague took an active part in an international training focused on sustainable agricultural value chains, held on 9–13 February 2026 at Uganda Christian University (UCU) in Mukono. The five-day pilot training was organized within the ADVALUE project, funded by the Erasmus+ programme, and hosted 31 representatives from regional and international partner institutions. Participants included representatives of the RUFORUM network, the University of Nairobi, Pwani University, Makerere University, and CZU Prague.
The programme offered interactive workshops, field visits, case studies, and practical discussions that enabled knowledge sharing between European and African partners. The outcomes of the training will serve as a basis for further development of study programmes at partner universities in Kenya and Uganda, for strengthening joint research activities, and for supporting community-oriented agricultural initiatives in the participating countries.
FTZ was represented on site by Ing. Petra Chaloupková, Ph.D., dr. h. c., Vice-Dean for International Relations, and Ing. Jana Mazancová, Ph.D. Within the ADVALUE project, FTZ led Module 4, focusing on capacity-building for sustainable agricultural systems and value chain development. The training was designed to enhance professional competencies in the sustainable production, processing, and marketing of agricultural commodities. Emphasis was placed on the effective functioning of value chains, improving market access, and increasing the resilience of farming communities to economic, social, and environmental challenges.
FTZ’s involvement in the ADVALUE project reaffirms the faculty’s long-term commitment to international cooperation and to supporting the sustainable development of agriculture in tropical and subtropical regions.
