1. Can you briefly introduce your work?

I have been working at the Department of Agriculture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment of Cyprus since 2002. I am the Head of the Agrochemicals and Feedingstuffs Sector of the Department of Agriculture. I am responsible for the implementation of the legislation concerning Plant Protection Products, Biocides, Fertilizers and Animal Feeds.

2. How did you get involved in your current work?

Initially, after completing my studies I worked in a private company dealing with pesticides, fertilizers, seeds etc. for 9 years. There I gained many experiences in agricultural matters. Then I applied for a job in the Department of Agriculture and after passing the exams, I was hired.

3. Why did you decide to study at our faculty (FTZ)?

I come from a farming family. From a young age, I was happy to help my parents in their agricultural work and I wanted to study Agriculture. When I decided to study in the former Czechoslovakia I chose the ITSZ - current FTZ.

4. What did you gain during your time at FTZ?

During my studies, I acquired high-level knowledge that helped me and still helps me in my professional career. I made friends both from the Czech Republic and many other

parts of the world, some of whom I still keep in touch with and I am very grateful for that. I loved the Czech Republic so much that I consider it my second home.

5. Who has influenced you the most and why?

My teachers were the ones who influenced me the most, as their guidance taught me to think in a way that ensures I always take various factors into account when making professional decisions!!!

6. What was your favourite subject/who was your favourite teacher at FTZ?

My favourite subject was the Plant Protection and for that my diploma subject was Plant Protection. I loved all my teachers, and I think it would be unfair to single out anyone. I remember them all with much respect and love!!!!

7. Any recommendations for current and future FTZ students?

Although more than 30 years have passed since my graduation, I am sure of the high level of education that FTZ graduates receive. I recommend them to study systematically

and take advantage of the opportunity they have for learning. This will ensure that all the knowledge they will acquire as graduates from FTZ will be needed in their future professional careers. And beyond the lessons, it's important to create memories....these will accompany them for their whole life!!!

8. What are your future plans?

Professionally, I have reached as high as I wanted. I love my job and I am grateful for it. Now, I want to maintain my health and work hard to achieve my professional obligations which are many!!! And…..travel a lot, including visits to the Czech Republic and the FTZ hopefully!!!
