Project Description:

The project aims at improving the agricultural higher education in Cambodia through the development of science and research. Implementation of joint research projects on an international level and increase publishing activities are among the main priorities of the RUA. The main objective of the project is to support the development of science and research at the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) through the involvement of experts from the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. The project focuses on improving the quality of higher education. The target groups are therefore researchers, management and students of RUA. This project aims to use prior experience implementers in the environment obtained from the management of two Czech projects and three European projects Erasmus Mundus ALFABET, ASK ASIA and Erasmus+ SIMPLE and it is consistent with the priorities of local governments and universities themselves.

Objectives of the project will be achieved through the following outputs:

  • Preparation of learning materials for courses "Scientific work" and "Project Management" in English and Khmer language
  • Improving teachers' competence in the field of scientific research through providing them training and consultation of scientific publications and projects
  • Increasing research activities of students thanks to organization of the Summer school for both Czech and Cambodian students and providing the research grant to the local students to support their research activities
  • Implementation mechanisms of support for science and research at RUA, introduction of competition for the best publication and use of new media in education and research in science popularization

SUMMER SCHOOL 2017 "SCIENTIFIC WORK: Step by step"

The Department of Economics and Development (FTA) and the Department of Zoology and Fisheries (FAFNR) organized a two-week summer school "SCIENTIFIC WORK: Step by step" at the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia at the beginning of September  2017. The summer school was attended by a total of 13 RUA students and 12 students from the CZU. Students were given a general framework of scientific work with an emphasis on practical advice and demonstrations of specific procedures. In several blocks, examples of working with online tools for advanced, efficient and targeted search of specialized articles, organization and management of the library of literature, work with quotes, tools for planning and sharing of collaboration on scientific projects, data processing and analysis, overview of basic graphic formats and examples of their use in scientific publications. Last but not least, the students learned about examples of good practice in presenting the results through posters, presentations or scientific articles. 

In addition to the theoretical lectures, students in practical form tried to collect data in the form of a questionnaire survey among tourist visitors of Phnom Penh. The students cooperated in small working teams and subsequently processed, analyzed and presented the data obtained before the other participants of the summer school.

Summer School in Cambodia 2018

Summer School in Cambodia called "SCIENTIFIC WORK: Step by Step" took place in August 2018, . The Summer School was realized in cooperation with the Royal University of Agriculture (RUA) in Phnom Penh from 20-31.8.2018. The aim of the Summer School is to introduce the basic principles of scientific work and publishing activities, from the search of specialized literature to the preparation of scientific publications or presentations. In addition to theoretical lectures, students tried to collect data in the field in practical form, worked in small teams and subsequently processed and presented the collected data.

 

 

Scientific Practical Conference

The Czech University of Life Sciences Prague together with the Royal University of Agriculture are organising the Scientific Practical Conference hosted at the Royal University of Agriculture, Phnom Penh, Cambodia on 29th November 2018. The call for abstracts is open till 10th November and we highly encourage young scientists, scholars, undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students to apply and participate this conference. The topics are related to agriculture and life sciences in a broad sense. 

 

FTA organized student's scientific conference in Cambodia

As part of the development project "Support of Science and Research at the Royal University of Agriculture in Cambodia", a team of experts from the Faculty of Tropical AgriSciences and the Faculty of Agrobiology, Food and Natural Resourcesled practical seminars on "Project Management" and "Scientific work: step by step ". At the same time, during the November visit, they participated in the organization of a student practical conference, attended by more than 170 students and young experts from the partner Royal University of Agriculture. During the conference, 25 contributions were divided into two parallel sections and a guided poster session was held. At the end of the conference, the best contributions were selected and awarded.
